Facial Recognition and Liveness Detection
We're excited to announce that we have just completed the development and production deployment of advanced facial recognition which includes unique liveness detection (to eliminate spoofing or attempts to defeat the security and integrity of the VCheck24 system).
This newly incorporated feature greatly reduces officer work-load (no more video reviewing) and launches VCheck24 into a whole new level of security automation. Our agency customers and service provider partners will now confidently be able monitor a higher volume of program participants with ease, knowing that each VCheck is being run through both liveness detection, facial recognition, and still includes the full check-in video with verbal prompts as usual.
Please allow us to demo VCheck24 for you and we will show you how this can greatly enhance your electronic monitoring program.

Liveness Detection
What is liveness detection?
These days, HD imaging can produce extremely realistic photos of a person’s face. A likelihood exists that an individual on monitoring may spoof lower quality facial recognition programs that do not incorporate liveness detection.
This is why we chose to select advanced facial recognition with liveness detection that can determine whether the image being presented is a real live human face or an image or 3-D model or some other attempt to defeat the program.

Facial Recognition
Facial recognition will fail if the person performing the VCheck is not the registered client for that profile — meaning that the image does not match up with the image sequence captured when he/she performed the first VCheck video upon downloading the new version of the VCheck24 app.
What is the difference between facial recognition and liveness detection?
First, it is important to know that they are not the same.
The main difference is that facial recognition answers the question “Are they the right users?” Liveness answers the question “Are they real individuals?”
Both terms are connected and can work together, but they are different. Liveness only involves detecting a human face in a frame or video, not identifying the person. Facial recognition goes beyond liveness detection, determining who the person is in a verification or authentication process.
